Fees and Payment Options
Derby Orthodontics is dedicated to caring for you and your family and to help you achieve the highest quality orthodontics possible. We strive to provide outstanding, affordable orthodontics that can fit any budget. We are proud to offer a variety of financial arrangements to meet the individual needs of our patients.
In-house financing - Financial arrangements can be set up to extend over a period of months following an appropriate down payment - no interest. For your convenience, automatic monthly payments can be set up through your Discover, Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit and debit cards. In addition, we accept payments through CareCredit, a third-party financing company.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) - Orthodontic treatment is considered an eligible expense for many Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans and we are happy to provide you with the appropriate documentation you need to submit to your plan administrator. We recommend you contact your flex administrator or HR department to verify if orthodontic services are eligible under your specific plan. In addition to FSA payment, we also accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
A bookkeeping courtesy may be offered if you choose to make payment in full at the onset of treatment.
Please contact our Financial Coordinator if you have any questions!

Please do not hesitate to ask us about any insurance policy not listed.
We are happy to work together with you and your insurance company to make sure you receive the maximum benefit possible under your individual policy. We ask that you assign your insurance benefits to us.
How does our office assist with your insurance?
- We will verify that you have orthodontic benefits; however, it is not a guarantee of payment.
- At the start of treatment, we generate an insurance claim form to submit to your insurance carrier for payment. You must provide specific personal and carrier information and your signature is required to allow us to release medical information to your carrier.
- If the total paid by your carrier is less than originally estimated, you change employers, or insurance is terminated for any reason, then you are responsible for any balance that your carrier does not pay. We will gladly work with you to restructure monthly payments to reflect that difference.
How does orthodontic insurance work?
Orthodontic insurance differs from dental insurance in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee and is generally paid monthly or quarterly over the treatment period until the maximum has been reached. There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers (your employer). Having two policies (primary and secondary) may not double your benefits. Some secondary insurance policies have a clause prohibiting duplication of benefits. We recommend contacting your insurance company or human resources department for more details about your orthodontic benefits.
