12.jpgWhen we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. Your retention appointments will be conducted for 1 year at 3-6 month intervals to maintain the holding of your correction. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you've put in so far! If your retainers are not worn, undesired tooth movement may occur.

Initially, your retainers must be worn at all times except when eating and brushing your teeth. Speaking may be difficult at first, but you will adjust quickly. Dr. Snider, as he continues to see you, will slowly reduce your hours of retainer wear until you are wearing them only when you sleep. Each patient may have different instructions. Therefore, please make sure you follow the doctor's instructions carefully.

Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and always brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth!
